4th Conference on Information Technology
Information technologies are becoming a major driving force behind the
development of our civilization today, heading towards information
society. New research disciplines emerge as a result of pioneering
interdisciplinary research, giving a stimulus to new industries and
jobs. During the last decade a coordinated effort of EU decision makers and
agencies aiming at harmonized development of information technologies can be
observed with significant funds allocated to such programs as ACTS, COST, 5th
and 6th, and soon 7th Framework Programmes.
In the EU family of nations Poland must catch up with the best. Therefore, the
Polish Government and local governments alike, consider IT a top priority in
higher education, research and development activities carried out across
Poland. The ultimate goal for all is to make Polish technical universities,
including Gdansk University of Technology, academic institutions of 21st
century. Information technologies require cooperation of interdisciplinary
teams, which bring together academic and industry, and necessitates organizing
conferences like the National Conference on Information Technologies. We hope
that the coming 4th edition of this conference will provide a forum for
exchanging ideas and stimulating new initiatives, to contribute significantly
to the growth of an information society in Poland.
