Invitation

The inaugural, must-attend First International IEEE Conference on Information Technology IT 2008 along with 6th National Conference on Information Technology is being organized by Gdańsk University of Technology and IEEE Poland Section. It constitutes a forum for engineers, scientists in academia and industry organizations to present their latest developments with references to the application of high technology and for exchanging ideas allowing for transfer of technologies and innovations.
Information Technology is currently the driving force behind the advance of information societies and knowledge-based economies. New scientific disciplines and new professions appear, new areas of industry develop, and interdisciplinary scientific projects are undertaken. The European Union, which Poland joined three years ago, provides abundant financial support for the development of information technologies; special research programs have been funded for a number of years.
Poland must aspire to equal the best. We should engage in comprehensive programs to educate students in new technology disciplines. We must strive to achieve tighter linkage between industry expectations and scientific research leading to commercial applications. We must aim to transform our colleges, including the Gdańsk University of Technology, into technical universities of the XXI century.
The objective of 1st International IEEE Conference on Information Technologies is to create a platform for integration of academic research institutes and industry enterprises. We hope that the Conference will become an open forum for exchanging ideas, and that it will provide encouragement for projects in which both research and commercial enterprises will take part, boosting entrepreneurship and innovation.
The conference papers will be presented in many oral, scientific sessions, with contributing and invited speakers, several plenary sessions with keynotes and one poster session.
In addition to the regular conference program, on IT 2008, special session on Cyber Security will be organized as a joint event with organizers of 2008 IEEE International Conference on Technologies for Homeland Security, Waltham, USA.
The Conference is being organized as a part of the commemoration of the Faculty 55th Anniversary.
More detailed information about deadlines at abstracts and full text submission and other organizational requirement details will be available by the end of October.
